Miggle tag: Online Editor
Background:
I've been a journalist since 2001, initially learning the trade on my local paper in Glasgow and then moving on to leading food and drink trade titles. I was deputy news editor at The Grocer writing about the happenings in the UK grocery market and superstores, for which my former (short-lived) career as a supermarket department manager put me in good stead. Recently, I had been using my writing skills in the world of PR, but am now enjoying mixing up my working day as a journalist and copywriter.
Your miggle remit:
I write news teasers and headlines to tempt online users to explore the wonderful world of the web. Having previously worked for The Herald's web team in Glasgow, it's been great to get back to CMS systems and connect with the ever-expanding online community.
Webby interests:
It's funny to think that when I began my journalism career in 2001 that my local paper didn't give us access to the web! How on earth did we get by? The web has become an integral part of my life, helping me to keep up with all the latest news stories and research stories of my own, as well as the all-important task of organising my social life through email and Facebook.
Away from the computer screen:
When I'm not staring at computer screen, I like to get out into the outdoors - either strolling around the countryside, riding my bike or getting frustrated on the golf course. I also like to run around a netball court each week and hit a few tennis balls when the sun comes out to play.
How would you save the miggle team from life-threatening peril?
I'd just have to start singing a few songs and any threat to our safety would run away as fast as possible.
