At miggle we firmly believe that the key to delivering successful web development projects is to run them to a process.
A key part of that process is planning your web design and development project in detail. No one would build a house from scratch without consulting an architect and a surveyor, but too many people will commission the build of websites without defining a plan, largely because they see skipping this stage as a cost saving. It rarely is.
Of course, not all projects need detailed planning. If your requirements can be covered by deploying a new site using a tool like the miggleCMS, much of what needs to be planned is already baked into the existing solution and you get the benefit of running with a tried and tested method that has a good development process as part of it.
Let miggle plan your project
However, if your ambitions stretch beyond this then you should consider engaging miggle to plan your web design project on your behalf. The level to which we need to do that will depend on how much you have been able to define your project already - the outcome you get from us will always be the same: a document that describes exactly what you will need to achieve your business objectives, from which any web design and development business will be able to give you a solid quote.
How much will miggle charge to plan my web design project?
This will depend on the size of the project and how much of the website development process you have already covered. Tell us more about your project
If miggle plan my web design project, do I have to use you to build it?
No, not at all. In fact, the process often works best if we don't quote for the development stage because it means we can write the most objective document possible so that your shortlist of suppliers can all quote from the same information. At the start of the planing process you can specify if you'd like us to quote for the work once the planning documentation has been created - we'll also let you know if we'd be interested in the work, as quite often, we'll plan projects that exceed the resources we have available.
The miggle website development process
The miggle website development process follows these stages, all of which need to happen before development starts:
1. The core creative idea for the website
2. The market requirements of the website (in essence this is similar to what is covered in the miggle client briefing form)
3. The content, features and functionalities your website needs to have in order to deliver on your market requirements
4. How long it will take to build and how much it will cost.
Then, we can start on the website build - testing the solution throughout the process, checking that it delivers on initial aims and objectives.
How might this impact my web development schedule?
This depends on how big your project is. Clients will generally approach us with parts 1 and 2 done already. If the requirement is for a fairly straightforward brochure ware site or simple e-commerce site - such as we can readily deploy using a solution like the miggleCMS then 3 and 4 can be specified quite quickly - as in most cases you'll be making your own use of standard functionality, such as a contact form or a shopping cart.
However, we find some clients will want us to manage all four stages - and leverage not just our ability to plan projects, but to also define your audiences needs online.
